FASHION TECH NEWS has been sharing various information about &apos;Femtech&apos;, which uses technology to solve women&apos;s unique health problems. Wanting to foster interest in this field, we held our first sponsored event, a talk show on Femtech, on November 15th (Wednesday). In this event, what kind of lectures were given, and how did the participants react? This time, we will report on the successful &apos;Femtech Talks ～Updating Knowledge &amp; Developing Businesses Around Menstruation&apos;.

<h2 id="h07e57b3d6b">An Event Highlighting Menstrual Issues that Haven&apos;t been Discussed Much in The Past</h2>The event took place at EGG, located in the Shin Marunouchi Building, an innovative space that serves as a hub for working people throughout the city with a fusion of office and exchange spaces. Co-hosted by the Tokyo Marunouchi Innovation Platform (TMIP) who runs this remarkable space, the event was open only to women. Thus, attracting those who have concerns about menstruation or those who wish to update their knowledge about menstruation.

Firstly, the event started with an introduction to TMIP and their initiatives and goals by Azegami from Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd., who operates EGG.

At this event, we invited individuals who are tackling Femtech and menstruation-related businesses from various angles, to broaden their insights. Seminars were conducted that approached menstruation, often considered a women-only issue, from different perspectives.<h2 id="h1a96d72f2b">A Variety of Seminars Discussing Menstruation</h2>The first speaker was Yu Sato, who is in charge of planning and PR for &apos;Natracare&apos;, an organic &amp; natural menstrual product at Omochabako Corporation.

With the theme set to &apos;Oh yeah, I&apos;m on my period today: Rediscovering the choices for a comfortable menstrual week&apos;, Sato based her talk on her own experiences with menstrual pain and irregularities as she lectured on the fact that many women are troubled by menstruation and that changing lifestyles have led to different menstrual cycles and frequencies, as well as explained how to select menstrual products, menstruation overseas, and introduced &apos;Natracare&apos;, an organic cotton napkin. The next speaker was Hitomi Kiuchi, who operates the Femtech enlightenment media, &apos;Woman Hormone University&apos;, at Ashitarunrunlab, Inc.

The theme of her talk was &apos;Understanding the reality and trends of menstruation, and the gender gap through social media&apos;. She explained the current situation where proper menstrual knowledge cannot be learned only through school education, citing that 85% of people are not satisfied with the content of menstrual classes at school, knowledge is insufficient with classes alone, and menstruation varies by individual, so it is not comparable to others. As a solution to these issues, she suggested the use of their own &apos;Women&apos;s Hormonal University&apos; media, increasing the selection of menstrual products, and introducing menstrual products from overseas. The last speakers were President Daisuke Sakagami from azuki Co., Ltd., which operates a water-absorbing shorts brand for sports athletes, and Aiko Sugihara, a gymnast who was involved in the development, from TRyAS Co., Ltd.

The talk theme was &apos;Solving the challenges of menstruation&apos;. Sakagami passionately discussed what the challenges of menstruation are. His words, &quot;The reality is that many people aren&apos;t even aware of the problems,&quot; were particularly striking. Sugihara also spoke from an athlete&apos;s perspective about menstrual issues and shared her experiences of how she has managed to solve them.

<h2 id="h4f8d984e8d">A Heated Talk Session. Questions Flooded in Online!</h2>After the seminar program, the four speakers who had appeared so far returned to the stage for a group discussion.

The themes of the discussion were &apos;The gender gap related to menstruation and how to engage with society&apos;, &apos;Can Femtech change menstruation? A look at the future of technology&apos;, and &apos;The future of menstruation education: discussing the role and responsibilities of menstruation education&apos;. They discussed that menstruation is not a negative thing and that it&apos;s something we should seriously consider as it happens as part of our own bodies. By taking a stand on this matter, we could change our worldview. Sakagami, who was facilitating the discussion, couldn&apos;t help but tear up as he expressed his passionate thoughts.

Questions from online participants included, &quot;At what age should we start menstruation and sex education at home?&quot;, &quot;When starting a Femtech business, how should we involve men?&quot;, and &quot;How to get a job in the Femtech industry?&quot; among others.

Sugihara, who said she often gets consultations from junior athletes about their menstrual worries. Apparently, she answers these concerns based on her own experiences

The gender gap still exists when it comes to menstruation, and I want people to know that changing one thing could change the future. I&apos;m glad I got to hear about menstruation from various standpoints and angles. FASHION TECH NEWSではこれまで女性特有の健康問題をテクノロジーで解決する「フェムテック（Femtech）」についてさまざまな情報を発信してきた。もっと多くの人に関心を持ってもらいたいとの思いから、去る11月15日（水）に初の主催イベントとして、フェムテックをテーマにしたトークショーを開催。 本イベントではどのような講演が行われ、参加者からはどのような反応があったのか。今回は大盛況に終わった「Femtech Talks〜生理関連の知識アップデートと事業づくり」の模様をリポートする。

<h2 id="h962a73aded">これまであまり語られなかった“生理事情”をイベントにして問題提起</h2>イベントが行われた会場は新丸ビルにある「<a href="https://www.egg-japan.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">EGG</a>」。ここは、オフィスと交流スペースを兼備し、丸の内という街全体で働く人の“ハブ”となるイノベーションスペースだ。 今回イベントを共催した<a href="https://www.tmip.jp/ja/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Tokyo Marunouchi Innovation Platform（TMIP）</a>が運営する画期的なスペースで、会場観覧は女性限定ということもあり、生理で悩んでいる人や、生理の知識をアップデートしたい人などが会場に駆け付けた。

まずは会場となったEGGを運営するTMIPがどんな活動をし、どんなことを目指しているのかを、<a href="https://www.mec.co.jp/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">三菱地所株式会社</a>の畔上さんがTMIPを紹介するお話からイベントがスタート。

『「そういえば、今日は生理だったな」生理週間を快適に過ごすために選択肢』をトークテーマに、自身の生理痛や生理不順の経験を基にした生理で悩む女性が多いこと、そして今と昔では、ライフスタイルも違うことで生理の周期や回数も違うことなどをレクチャー。その他、海外の生理事情や生理用品の選び方。オーガニックコットンナプキンの「ナトラケア」の紹介を行った。 次に登壇したのは、フェムテック啓蒙メディア「<a href="https://womanbalance.jp/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">女性ホルモン大学</a>」を運営する<a href="https://ashitarunrun.co.jp/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">株式会社あしたるんるんラボ</a>の木内ひとみさん。

トークテーマは「SNSを通じて知る、生理の実情やトレンド、ジェンダーギャップについて」。 学校で受ける生理の授業の内容に満足していない人が85％もいることや、授業だけでは知識が足りないこと、生理には個人差があるので人と比べられないことなどを挙げ、学校教育だけでは生理の正しい知識を学べない現状を解説。 そういった悩みの解決方法として、自社のメディア「女性ホルモン大学」の活用、そして生理用品の選択肢を増やすこと、海外の生理用品の紹介などを行った。 最後に登壇したのは、スポーツ・アスリート向けの吸水ショーツブランドを展開する<a href="https://www.azuki.site/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">株式会社azuki</a>から代表取締役社長の坂上大介さん、そしてその開発に携わった<a style="color:#181818" href="https://tryas-inc.co.jp/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">株式会社TRyAS</a>の代表であり、体操選手の杉原愛子さん。

トークテーマは「生理の課題を解決する」。生理の課題がどのようなところにあるかを坂上さんが熱弁。“実は何が課題かに気づいていないという現状がある”という言葉が印象的だった。杉原さんもアスリート目線からの生理問題、それをどのように解決してきたか実体験を語ってくれた。

<h2 id="hec78c511c8">熱を帯びるトークセッション。オンラインでも質問が殺到！</h2>セミナープログラムの後はグループディスカッションとして、これまで登壇してきた4名が再度壇上に上がり、トークセッションを行った。

ディスカッションのテーマは「生理関連のジェンダーギャップ、社会との向き合い方について」「フェムテックが生理を変える？　テクノロジーの未来について」「生理教育の未来：生理教育の役割と責任について」の3本柱で話し合われた。 生理はネガティブじゃないこと、そして自分自身の身体の一部で起こっていることだからしっかり考えるべきだということ、それに対して意志を持って行動すれば、自分の世界観が変わることを話し合った。司会役を務めた坂上さんが、自らの熱い思いから思わず涙ぐむ一面も。

オンラインから観覧していた参加者からも 「家庭内で何歳ぐらいから生理教育、性教育をするべきか」 「フェムテックの事業を立ち上げるときどのように男性を巻き込むべきか」 「フェムテック業界に就職するには」 などの質問が相次いだ。

大盛況のうちに幕を閉じた今回のイベント。最後に今回登壇した方々に感想を伺った。 株式会社おもちゃ箱の佐藤悠さん 「生理に対するトピックがどんどん広がっていることを感じました。生理という女性だけの悩みだったものが、社会の中でのみんなの問題として取り扱われていることがわかって有意義なイベントでした」 株式会社あしたるんるんラボの木内ひとみさん 「生理の話題がオープンにはなってきてはいますが、フェムテックという文脈ではまだまだ浸透しているとはいえず、生理に関してのジェンダーギャップはまだまだ存在するので、ひとつ変えたら未来が変わるということを知ってほしいですね。女性自身の生理にまつわる状況を変えたいという気持ちが、私も刺激になりました」 株式会社azukiの坂上大介さん 「男性だから実体験はできないけど、なんとかしたいという思いから試行錯誤してここまでやってきました。さまざまな立場や角度から生理の話を聞けてよかったです。今回参加してくれた人は、自分の中で思ったことや感じたことを持ち帰って、他でも話をしてくれたらいいなと思います」 と語った。 株式会社TRyASの杉原愛子さん 「アスリート代表として情報を発信するなで、アスリートも生理で辛い体験や思いをしていたことや、今は生理用品の選択肢がこんなにもあるということを広められてよかったと思います」 生理に対する悩みは人それぞれだが、問題提起をすることに意味があることを学べた今回のイベント。「フェムテック」を通じて、さまざまな人が生理に対して関心を持つ社会になることを願いたい。

Fashion Tech News has previously shared various information about 'Femtech', a technology solution for women-specific health issues. With the desire to generate interest from more people, we hosted our first event, a talk show focused on the theme of Femtech.

Interactive events cultivating discussions with participants as a new media direction for FTN

Our aim is to cultivate a community that encourages exchange amongst participants from various industries and companies by holding regular events. These events are designed to provide opportunities for expanding knowledge and discussions about problem-solving in the fields of fashion, beauty, and femtech. Through sessions and panel discussions based on specific themes, we provide information from those involved in service and product development, and knowledge sharing from experts in the industry. In addition, we aim to support networking and community building among participants through interaction time and social gatherings during the event.
